Compliance Manager (Evaluation)

Job Purpose
Working in Regulatory Delivery means translating our regulation into action and that industry understands and adheres to the legislation set out to protect the public’s interest. Based in the Compliance team, you will be responsible for testing licensees against the requirements of holding a GB gambling licence, raising standards across the industry and working across Regulatory Delivery on end-to-end casework so that consumers are protected.

Your Role
- It’s about teamwork: You will work primarily as part of our Compliance team to test the regulatory compliance of GB licensees and to raise standards, with a particular focus on online operators. The team plays a crucial role in the front line of the Commission and helps the department make sure policy is implemented effectively, that the industry is complying with relevant legislation and in developing new ways to regulate a continually changing landscape. You will collaborate with colleagues from other areas, particularly Enforcement and Licensing, to deliver an end-to-end outcome, contributing to the development of casework and where necessary, representing the GC in proceedings.
- It’s about assessments: You should be comfortable and confident in leading and conducting assessments of large and complex online and land-based businesses, coordinating and managing multiple engagements with licensees. It is essential that you have the drive to keep up to date with developments and trends in the tech and mobile environments and a willingness to adapt your working patterns to embrace these. You should be capable of leading, supporting and mentoring colleagues to conduct online assessments.
- It’s about projects: you should be able to lead cross-reg delivery multi-disciplinary teams and evaluate and present results with recommended actions.
- It’s about evaluation: you should be able to analyse and review data on the largest and most complex operators and be able to identify key areas of risk that should be assessed during compliance activity.
- It’s about support: you will be adaptable and flexible, capable of working across the whole regulatory delivery function to deliver multi-disciplinary outcomes and working to ensure consumer interests are at the heart of everything we do.
- It’s about expertise: advising a range of stakeholders about GB licensing requirements and representing and articulating the Compliance team’s approach and conduct in any proceedings.
- It’s about relationship building: acting as a contact for licensees and for colleagues across the GC

Person Specification
Essential:
- You should have experience / knowledge of the principles of capturing and recording evidence for regulatory investigations.
- You should be adaptable and comfortable with change and the continual improvement that is required to be a successful risk-based regulator.
- You should be capable and confident in your understanding and use of technology – an early adopter of new tech hardware and solutions.
- You should have excellent interviewing and auditing skills and be capable of prioritising a busy workload.
- You should be able to produce clear, accurate and timely reports for senior management and you should have excellent letter-writing skills.
- You should show attention to detail in all your work but also be able to complete work, at pace, to tight deadlines.
- You should be a confident communicator in front of both internal and external audiences, including senior officers of large corporations and legal tribunals.
- You should be a strong team-player, capable of working with colleagues across the GC to achieve the right outcomes.
- You should be flexible and willing to support colleagues across the entirety of regulatory delivery.
