The Licensing Department is the gatekeeper for entry into the GB gambling market. We are responsible for permitting and granting licences to individuals and organisations by ensuring that they uphold the licensing objectives, keep crime out of gambling, protect children and vulnerable people and ensure their operations are run fairly and openly.
We are currently looking for a Regulatory Manager to join our team in Birmingham on a permanent, full-time basis and aid in the management of the Licensing Department.

Your Role
As a Regulatory Manager, you will play a vital role in the operational management of the Licensing team and resources.
Joining a small team, you will be responsible for the management of colleagues, using coaching and mentoring to enhance performance and the effective delivery of the Licensing’s work and resources.
You will also develop and use performance data and management information to monitor and manage performance against agreed KPIs and service levels.
Another key aspect of your role will be to work with colleagues across Regulatory Delivery to raise standards in the industry and ensure consumers are protected from gambling harm.
Your role will also involve:
- Planning and deploying resources
- Reviewing and assessing the quality of casework decisions
- Developing operational guidance notes and processes to deliver our work
- Leading and managing projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Presenting at regulatory panel hearings
About You
To be considered as a Regulatory Manager, you will need:
- Experience of risk management and undertaking quality assurance checks to ensure decisions manage and minimise risks to the licensing objectives
- Experience making risk-based and evidence-led decisions with the capability of interpreting complex business information, interpreting legislation, building on industry knowledge and keeping abreast of emerging trends and issues
- Experience creating training and development plans with the ability to deliver training
- Project management skills with experience of lean methodologies and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- The ability to effectively manage colleagues
- The ability to draft and finalise comprehensive and accurate reports
- Excellent planning skills to deploy departmental resources to deliver business, regulatory delivery and organisation strategic priorities
