We have an exciting new opportunity for a Technical Security Specialist to join our team in Birmingham where you be responsible for securing the Commission’s IT infrastructure and ensuring the Commission’s systems are robust and kept secure.

Your Role
As a Technical Security Specialist, you will be responsible for securing and maintaining the Commission’s IT infrastructure under minimal supervision through a proactive programme of maintenance, patching and being aware of existing, new and emerging technologies and threats.
You will also participate in regular IT health checks and work with the Digital and IT teams to remediate any issues raised. You will utilise products in the Microsoft Defender suite and toolsets from the National Cyber Security Centre to monitor and ensure our systems are secure and act upon any recommendations from these services and from internal or external audit activities.
Your role will also involve:
- Keeping abreast of published findings from agencies such as the NCSC and the National Crime Agency (NCA)
- Recommending changes to ensure the Commission’s systems remain secure
- Providing a strong focus on solutions with cloud first and security considerations being prioritised
- Ensuring any IT activities carried out meet the operational requirements of the Commission and that they adhere to the Commission’s business continuity and security accreditation arrangements
- Contributing to the delivery of the Commission’s business plan, offering feedback and ideas for continuous improvement
- Writing and maintaining IT documentation, ensuring that it is relevant and kept up to date for various audiences
About You
To be considered as a Technical Security Specialist, you will need to have demonstrable in-depth experience in the following:
- Microsoft Azure stack IaaS and PaaS workloads including Azure AD, Microsoft Endpoint Manager
- Microsoft 365 Defender platform, Security and Compliance
- Email security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- Identity Management (AD, AAD, ADFS, SAML)
- Certificates
- Windows 10, Windows Server and Hyper-V architecture including security, resilience and performance considerations
- Microsoft Active Directory including DNS, ADCS and Group Policy
- Microsoft deployment and management technologies including System Center Endpoint Manager and Operations Manager, image design and deployment
-Windows security considerations including server hardening, resilience, patching and performance considerations
- Mobile device management (Intune), security and compliance
- Emerging threat landscapes
- SIEM and event logging
